SPARKS CHOIR on Summer Break

The Sparks Choir will resume Thursday August 29, 7:15-9:00PM in the UU Church of Davis Sanctuary.

All voices welcome.  The commitment is to Thursday night rehearsals and three Sundays a month performing a song or two for the 11:15 service. This is a fun family of devoted singers, and you can be part of it!

Midsummer Night's Dream

Winters Shakespeare Workshop presents Midsummer like you've never seen it before: in Nashville, circa 1972.  My live seven-piece band includes all your favorite players from groups like Yolo Mambo and the Bonanza King Band, creating torch, twang, and flower-child fairy dust!

Showtimes 8PM on July 19 and 20 in Winters Community Park.

Singing in Sacred Community Aug. 23 & 24

Sing and study with Michael and Carrie Kline, folklorists who teach about singing in sacred spaces, about how songs live in communities, and how communities live in song. They’ll bring songs of Appalachia, songs of the labor movement and mine workers, even songs of California that they have learned and shared around the country.

Experience their ways of strengthening community through oral tradition in song at this rare workshop on the UU Church of Davis campus, Fri. Aug. 23 (eve) and Sat. Aug. 24 (all day, lunch included). No experience with group singing or knowledge of music is required. Flexible fee: $25-$50 (scholarships available).

Spots may be reserved by contacting Laura Sandage or the UU church office.
